Entry for 2010 AdFocus awards is open
Written by David Furlonger on July 12, 2010 – 1:45 pm -Finally! It’s time to get rid of false modesty, dust off your calculators and enter the 2010 AdFocus awards.
Questionnaires for the premier marketing and communications industry awards, which will be presented in Johannesburg on November 24, are attached at the end of the article in Word and PDF format.
There are six sets of questionnaires, in the following categories:
Advertising Agency of the Year
Media Agency of the Year
Branding & Design Agency of the Year
Digital Agency of the Year
African Advertising Agency Network of the Year
Specialist Agency of the Year
The last of these is a new award. It will recognise the best SA has to offer in PR, experiential, healthcare, direct marketing, CRM, events, sports marketing and other disciplines that are such an important part of the marketing and communications mix.
At the bottom of the questionnaires, you are invited to propose nominations for four awards to individuals. Three are long-standing AdFocus awards: for Lifetime Achievement, Agency Leader of the Year, and New Broom award for outstanding young talent.
In 2010, we have added Newsmaker of the Year. This will be a person who may have made headlines during the period July 2009-June 2010, raised important issues and furthered the industry’s cause. Or they may have enjoyed personal notoriety. All these individual awards are open to people in any AdFocus discipline within SA: advertising, media, branding & design, digital and specialist.
The same applies to the FM’s other new award: Partnership of the Year. This will recognise a great SA agency/client relationship. This may have shown itself in great work, outstanding business or brand awareness, or simply working together to crush the opposition. The award will be made jointly to agency and client, so the entry and motivation must come from both and be co-signed. There is no separate questionnaire but details of how to enter are contained within the agency questionnaires.
There is no abbreviated questionnaire this year for the agency profiles that will be published in the 2010 AdFocus annual. We want all your details. So complete the full questionnaire in your category.
You will notice changes to some questions this year. For example, there is a very specific definition of “revenue”, to avoid the different interpretations some agencies have employed in the past. Other changes reflect the score weightings which will be applied by the AdFocus jury. So it’s not just about new account gains; it’s also about long-term client relationships and maintenance of existing accounts. And when it comes to telling us about the awards you’ve won, we also want to know about other forms of recognition. For example, which awards juries have your staff sat on?
Deadline for entries
The deadline for entries is Monday September 13. For those of you planning to ask for an extension, the answer is no. In order to have judging packs ready for the jury’s initial assessments later the same week, we need everything in on time. In relevant categories, however, the jury will take account of results from the Loeries festival on October 2-3.
