Cape Town agency FoxP2 was the only two-time winner at the Creative Circle 2010 Ad of the Year awards on March 24. It snapped up first place in the magazine category with its “Aliens” campaign on behalf of National Geographic Kids Magazine, then teamed up with Gloo Digital Design to win the inaugural Digital award for Brandhouse’s viral “Drive Dry” campaign warning of the dangers of drinking and driving.

Ogilvy Johannesburg won the film category with its acclaimed “Selinah” commercial showing the benefits of antiretrovirals in the fight against HIV/Aids. It was on behalf of the Topsy Foundation (referred to, obliquely, on the Creative Circle website, as the Topsy Turvy Foundation). It was produced by Egg Productions.

TBWAHuntLascaris Johannesburg was back in its familiar position as winner of the outdoor category for its campaign against human trafficking, while KingJames’ mickey-taking World Cup dig at Fifa won for Newspapers.

Awards were presented at The Venue, in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. According to Creative Circle chairman Brett Morris: “Creatives are going all out in pursuit of new and innovative ideas that push boundaries and that’s exciting.”
