Gail Curtis has worked wonders at Saatchi since becoming group CEO in 2005. Business has picked up, promising talent has been hired, and there's more confidence about the place.

What's still missing, though, is creative recognition. The agency is knocking on the door for major awards, but awaits the spark that will open it. It had a bronze Lion and was a finalist twice at Cannes this year but is capable of more.

Still, R9m in new business is not to be ignored. Overall, revenue grew 12%. There were new accounts from Procter & Gamble (P&G), Novartis, Unicef, Peugeot and the SA HIV/Aids Council. After P&G, the agency's biggest accounts are Peugeot, Novartis and Bel Cheeses.
