Given the enormous creative and effective advertising success enjoyed at the sister agency in Jo'burg, it would be easy for Ogilvy Cape Town to go unnoticed. Not a chance. The agency has enjoyed another excellent year. In 2006 it was ranked 78th in global parent firm WPP's creative rankings. By 2007 it was up to 16th.

Over one-third of the agency's output is below-the-line. Its website work for the Audi brand won considerable acclaim. New accounts won last year included SAB's Grolsch and Castle Lite beer brands, Coca-Cola's Valpré and Schweppes, Seeff and the VW-imported Seat car brand. But VW has since announced that, due to lousy sales, Seats will no longer be sold after this year.

After BP/Castrol, its biggest clients are British American Tobacco, VW/Audi, Old Mutual and SAB.

The year wasn't all plain sailing, though. MD Jacques Burger announced his resignation in April and left at the end of August.
