A year after opening, Metropolitan was ranked among SA's top 10 creative agencies. Less than a year later, it continues to grow. It now has its own media-planning company, Metropolis, which has attracted business from Sasol and Stuttafords.
Being a sidekick of The Jupiter Drawing Room does it no harm. Indeed, if one looks at awards over its short history - including Loeries, Clios, Apex and Cannes - Metropolitan is invariably a joint winner with its elder.
New accounts last year were Liberty Life/Health, Stanlib, Montecasino and Stuttafords. Its one loss was a project-based account that moved to Black River FC. Turnover grew 64% and new business R12m.
It's been a great ride for Metropolitan so far. Keeping the momentum going will be harder.
