McEwan likes fast food and vehicles. The gaining of the Wimpy Ireland account means the agency is now responsible for promoting the brand in three countries.
After initially working on Wimpy SA, McEwan faced a tougher task in the UK, where the burger chain was losing out to newer, customer-friendly rivals. Its online brand management tool, Createonline, is now used by 650 franchises in SA and the UK and is poised to grow.
McEwan deepened its culinary credentials last year by adding the Nino's fast-food chain, Dice Pizza, and two food festivals, Taste of Jo'burg and Taste of Cape Town.
And what of vehicles? Tata Commercial Vehicles and International Trucks are among the agency's biggest clients. They were joined in late 2007 by Zeda car sales, the used-car division of Avis. BBC-TV Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson also became a client when the agency was the driving force behind marketing the MPH motoring theatre event in Jo'burg,
