Andrew Shuttleworth describes 2007-2008 as the rebirth of the McCann-Erickson brand in SA: "new management, new team, new mandate and new vision". Not before time, some would say. Certainly, the agency has started to attract more exciting individuals such as Festus Masekwameng and Vanessa Pearson.
It's also started to pick up new accounts, though several of those gained during the review period were on an assignment basis rather than long-term. At the same time, it lost Castle Milk Stout. Five pitch wins out of eight isn't bad, but an agency as senior as this would expect to do better.
After Telkom, the biggest accounts are General Motors, L'Oréal, SABC public broadcast radio and Nestlé.
