With 76% revenue growth, 2007-2008 was a record year for Magna Carta, which is 66% owned by TBWA. It added R40m in new business and some illustrious names to the client list: Engen, Kellogg's, Disney and KFC. They sit comfortably alongside the agency's biggest blue-chip clients Standard Bank, Eskom, Microsoft and Nokia Siemens Networks, as well as the national health department's Khomanani HIV/Aids awareness campaign.

Other new clients last year included the auditor-general, World Economic Forum, Simba and One Digital. The last is typical of the work undertaken by Magna Carta to position the company and its CEO, Mike Bosman, in the media.

Awards included a gold, three silvers and a bronze at the annual PR industry awards. The gold was for work on behalf of Barloworld's Tour de France team presence - an involvement that also won the agency the media relations category in the International Association of Business Communication awards.
