The highlight of the year was undoubtedly winning the Nokia Network account for sub-Saharan Africa as part of a global advertising realignment for the brand in which JWT was appointed to represent Nokia around the world.
As a result, JWT Johannesburg has expanded its African operations - it has formed a new partnership in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and found a bigger partner in Mozambique. JWT's African network also brought it the African Banking Corp account. Other newcomers were Glen Tea, Nestlé Gold and Kellogg's Activations. The Kellogg's work was indicative of the shift towards activation work.
In all, the newcomers added R16,7m in revenue. JWT's biggest clients, after Nokia, are Ford, Kellogg, Unilever and Nestlé.
Creatively, the agency collected gold, silver and bronze Loeries during the review period, as well as the Creative Circle ad of the year for its Ford Bantam work.
