Sponsorship is often under-estimated but Exp's biggest client, Absa, now spends nearly half its marketing budget on sponsorship. As the 2010 soccer World Cup approaches, Exp CEO Justin Sampson predicts this will increasingly become the norm.
Sponsorship specialist Exp SA has achieved huge growth in recent years. Billings last year grew 300%. It is expected to be at the forefront of leveraging sponsorship clients around the World Cup. Indeed, it is the only SA agency appointed so far by Fifa.
New accounts gained last year were MTN, Absa's soccer premiership and the Bafana Bafana sponsorship account, Yellow Pages, Nestlé/Milo, Fifa and the 2010 World Cup local organising committee. Its five biggest accounts are Absa, MTN, Toyota, Procter & Gamble and Nestlé.
The agency has won a series of marketing excellence awards over the past year. It also won all six pitches it entered.
