Overall student winners at this year’s Pendoring Afrikaans advertising awards will win not only a R10 000 study bursary but also an internship at the Draftfcb agency. “The winner – or winners – will get the opportunity to work on real briefs, on big assignments, on work that sees the light of day, thereby putting themselves on the map creatively,” says Draftfcb Johannesburg MD Jerry Mpufane.
He says the Pendoring organisers’ idea of an internship “was immediately met with a resounding ‘yes’ from my side. On the one hand, there’s a lot of experience and opportunity in our business. We are privileged to work for some of the biggest home-grown brands in SA that have gone out and conquered the world, so the opportunity for students to learn from the best of the best is enormous. Second, very few people get the opportunity to go out, test themselves and essentially realise their dreams. So I’m elated that the winner will have the opportunity to work at an agency with a proud track record.”
